The first of the damaged Roseberry Topping tracks has been restored.

The first of ten footpaths leading to the top of the damaged monument has been restored.

Work began in June to repair trails at Roseberry Topping, a hill on the edge of the North York Moors that has been damaged by erosion and foot traffic.

The National Trust and the North York Moors National Park Authority have repaired and resurfaced the path and work will now move to the remaining nine, staggered over the next few years.

Mike Conlon, from the British Mountaineering Council, said the erosion was caused by walkers leaving the established trail, leaving it on higher ground.
