Why PS4 is my favorite PlayStation console and better than PS5

Why PS4 is my favorite PlayStation console and better than PS5

Is PS4 the best Sony console? (Sony)

A reader explains why he’s disappointed with the PS5 but still considers the PS4 his favorite console.

In continuation of my Reader’s article about my favorite PlayStation video games over the past 30 years, this time I thought I’d take a look at some games that, although they were either originally multi-format or are now multi-format, I still associate with the PlayStation. But I also want to talk about my top five PlayStation consoles and accessories.

Top 5 games that I associate with PlayStation

5. Tomb Raider – The first Tomb Raider game I actually played was Rise Of The Tomb Raider, and it was for Xbox One. However, I’m old enough to remember one of my friends playing this game on his PlayStation. I remember being amazed by the T-Rex and seeing them lock the butler in the refrigerator. I also remember rumors about a cheating pervert who showed Lara in the shower. I’d like to think things have changed since then, but probably not.

4. Tony Hawk Skateboarding “Me and my friends played this to death.” I don’t even remember if it was split screen or not. I remember we used to play to see who could get the most points and either there would be a winner or we would take turns playing.

3. Metal Gear Solid – I bought a PlayStation late and I can’t even remember how I got it. I didn’t have a lot of money to buy new games, but I knew someone who sold copied discs. Metal Gear Solid was one of the few games at the time that I was able to complete.

I replayed it recently and it’s a little weird because there really isn’t that much stealth and most of the game consists of boss fights. At the time, I thought it was the pinnacle of what video game storytelling could be, but in fact, upon my replay, it ended up being more banal than fondue.

2. Resident Evil 2 – Again, this was one of the few games I actually finished. Before playing the game, I played the demo to death because it was free in the Official PlayStation Magazine, which I bought from time to time. I remember being blown away by the graphics, especially the fire effects and environments. I didn’t play much of the first game, but it felt like an improvement in every conceivable way.

1. FIFA 98 onwards – I remember my friend had FIFA 98 on PC and I was so jealous because at that time it was a different level compared to other football games. When I got my PlayStation, I remember my parents gave me the World Cup 98 version for my birthday and I had to wait an agonizing number of days before I could play it because we were on vacation at the time.

My friends and I would go to the local Blockbuster (remember those?), rent the latest edition when it came out, and play it, usually during the school holidays. In later years we moved to Pro Evolution Soccer, but I still look into FIFA (now EA Sports FC) from time to time.

Top 5 PlayStation Consoles and Peripherals

    Honorable Mention: PS Vita
I didn’t mind the PS Vita. I had a good time with Tearaway and it was my first time playing an Uncharted game. Ultimately, it appears he lacked support.

    5. PlayStation VR
I bought the original PlayStation VR for cheap in its final years. Like most people, I found it overwhelming at first, and it’s great to bring to people who aren’t usually bothered by video games.

However, with the exception of Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, I didn’t really like many of the games. I feel like Sony missed a trick in that the PlayStation VR2 is not backwards compatible. I felt that games like Iron Man, for example, had promise, but I found the Move controllers too clunky and these types of games could be greatly improved with better controllers.

    4. PlayStation
I don’t have a strong connection to PlayStation as I wasn’t really into gaming at the time. However, I can’t help but notice the console’s influence on gaming over the years. I kind of wanted to go back in time and experience games like Spyro The Dragon, Ape Escape, PaRappa the Rapper, Tomb Raider, and Soul Reaver, among others, as I feel like I’ve probably missed the boat on playing them now.

    3. PlayStation 5
I’m somewhat dubious about the PlayStation 5. I was an early adopter, and the first few years were decent, with games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure at launch, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. , Horizon Forbidden West and God Of War: Ragnarök would come out a few years later. However, most of these games are cross-generational, and even with PlayStation 5-only games, I struggled to understand how they differed from PlayStation 4 games.

    PlayStation 5 Slim console
    PS5 disappointed? (Sony)

I actually got rid of my PlayStation 5 for a while to get a portable gaming PC because it was better for me in terms of being able to play more. I ended up regretting this short-sighted decision and 18 months later I bought a used PlayStation 5 for a good price. This was mainly done so that I could play Astro Bot and enjoy the game. With Silent Hill 2 also exceeding expectations this year, let’s hope Sony can ensure that the coming years of the PlayStation 5 go off with a bang.

      2. PSP
I’ve always been amazed by the ability to play games on the go. For me, the novelty never wore off. As for games, I played a lot of FIFA, Grand Theft Auto, Ridge Racer and Tekken. I also used it to surf the Internet, listen to music, and very rarely watch movies. As a portable media device, it was probably ahead of its time.

      1. PlayStation 4
For me, the best Sony console, without a doubt. I only really started to get into gaming towards the end of the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 era, after a bout of pneumonia kept me home for several weeks.
I was an early adopter, and while I can’t remember many of those early games, you may have already noticed that the quality has improved significantly over PlayStation 3 games.

Since I had more sales income in those days, I was often able to buy several newly released games on the first day. Having not played most of the original, I managed to play through the remastered version of GTA 5. I was also introduced to the Uncharted trilogy for the first time.

However, my first must-have AAA release was Batman: Arkham Knight, as I was a fan of the previous games. The game looked absolutely amazing and still holds up well. I also think this is a worthy sequel, despite the tank battles.

For me, however, 2018 is the year it really came into its own, with the excellent God Of War and Spider-Man releasing within months of each other. While I wasn’t particularly impressed with Red Dead Redemption 2 at the time, I’ve since reevaluated my opinion and consider it one of the best games ever made.

The fact that PlayStation 4 games are still being released shows what a great console it was.
