Raheem Sterling is attempting to dethrone Manchester City’s title in four matches today. Premier League The title wins at the Etihad.

His current manager Mikel Arteta said this week he wants to give the winger more minutes following his loan move. Chelsea. Sterling has not played regularly for the Gunners as he has struggled to make the impact he wanted at Stamford Bridge following his move from City.

At 29, Sterling won every domestic trophy available during a brilliant seven-year spell at the Etihad. But his arrival in Manchester in 2015 caused controversy as he tried to move from Liverpool.

Much has been written about his intentions, his salary and his character. Under Pep Guardiola at City these questions disappeared, such were his performances. And despite many doubts in his favor, Sterling maintained that the only reason he wanted to leave Liverpool for City was trophies.

“When I went to Liverpool I said if I don’t win the Premier League by 21, I need to look at my options and see what I do there.” – he said.

“I put that in place from a young age. And I came to City and won my first Premier League. It’s just nice to know that what I set out to do – what we set out to do as a team – is going according to plan.”

Having joined, he added: “From the moment I heard City were interested in me (I wanted to join), purely because of the direction the football club was going. I’m very glad to be here. I think I made the right decision.

“As a footballer playing in the Premier League for such big clubs, you will always be under pressure, but you just have to accept it and take it in your stride.

“I have my own personal goals – ambitions to help – and hopefully I do really well at this football club and try to get trophies.”

The trophies have certainly arrived for the man who has now played for the entire top four of the current Premier League. But it was at City that he was at the peak of his career.
