Counts point to first big wins and losses in tight race

10:50 am: Now on to Raheny and Bayside. Sian O’Callaghan and Aoibhinn Tormey are doing well at Bayside and Deirdre Heaney is putting in a decent performance here.

The vote at Raheny Library showed a clear preference for Tom Brabazon, but Sian O’Callaghan and Aoibhinn Tormey also picked up plenty of first preference votes here.

10 am: A number of boxes are currently being counted in Donaghmede and Priorswood.

Sinn Féin enjoys strong support here so far, with Michelle Mac Doncha receiving many first preference votes at the St Benedicts polling center and Denise Mitchell running away with first preference votes at the St Francis school polling center in Priorswood.

9am: Good morning from RDS, where the ballot boxes are open from Dublin’s Bury North and ballots are being closely watched by counters.

This is a big district, and with five spots left to fill and three TDs to go this time around, it will be an interesting race.

The first boxes to be opened are in the Clontarf constituency area, specifically St Garbiel’s polling station and Belgrove Boys’ Primary School.

Some very early indications from these boxes are that first preference is given to local independent Barry Heneghan and Fine Gael’s Naoise Ó Muiri.

Deputy leader of the Social Democrats Cian O’Callaghan shows decent results here too. With only a few boxes open in one area, these numbers raise serious health warnings even before the first counts are available. Stay tuned.
