Goku’s Kamehameha won’t be enough for Dragon Ball DAIMA’s biggest challenge

Goku’s Kamehameha won’t be enough for Dragon Ball DAIMA’s biggest challenge

Spoiler alert!!!

This article contains spoilers for Episode 8 of Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Every week I tell myself that this week’s episode Dragon Ball DAIMA by far the best, and this week was no exception. However, I don’t think my claim will be rejected this time. To my surprise, King Goma takes the time to watch most of the Dragon Ball instead of acting like the ruler of the Demon Realm, and frankly, so are we. While he takes his time watching the anime like such a dedicated fan, Goku and his team along with Vegeta and his own team will strike a blow he never expected.

The episode was fairly well balanced, with the first half focusing on the fight and the second half dropping bomb after bomb about information that impacts the story and what fans already know. This episode provides an opportunity to create a character who might not otherwise have a role in the bigger picture. There was no reason for Tamagami to be as charismatic as they made him out to be, but it made the battle that much more meaningful.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Wins Animation Game

At a time when both Dandadan And Bleach: A Thousand Years of Bloody War aired simultaneously Dragon Ball DAIMA does not use this moment to relax. On the contrary, what Toei Animation has done with anime probably deserves a lot of praise. The brightness of each panel will be remembered by many. Moreover, the contrast of creating a bright pink place with such a dark name as the Demon Realm was the artistic choice I’m here for.

The highlight of the episode was definitely the fight between Tamagami of the Third Demon World and Goku. You shouldn’t mess with Tamagami. Considered more powerful than Dabura, he is the protector of the Dragon Balls and the harm they can cause in the wrong hands. I can’t wait to see how fun Goku and possibly Vegeta’s battle against the other Tamagami will be.

Toei spared no expense in making this the best fight sequence in the series. Animation, choreography and attention to detail; all of this makes the victory of Goku holding the Dragon Ball exponential. From Kakarot using his staff to becoming a Super Saiyan, everything was great from start to finish. There was not a single moment during the fight when I wanted to look away from the screen. too invested in how the fight would play out, even if I already knew the outcome.

The pacing of the fight was great, contrary to my previous criticism of how slow the anime was. Kamehameha’s final blow was brilliant in its execution. What I liked even more is that just because Goku defeated Tamagami in a physical fight, it wasn’t enough to get the Dragon Ball. This demonstrated his wit and how his speed and agility do more than just help him in battle.

The True Origin of Majin Buu

The second half of the episode gives insight into why Dr. Arinsu is pulling Glorio’s strings. She wants to get the Dragon Balls for herself in order to defeat King Goma if her own powers are not enough. She uses Goku through Glorio to get the eggs, but that’s not what caught my attention. The mad scientist seems to have been up to something since the Buu Saga, taking a piece of Majin Buu to create her own version that will obey her every command. Thus, one could assume that this new Majin Buu would be one of the biggest enemies of the series.

As with every episode, there was another big reveal involving Buu. Marba, who seemed to be working for Dr. Arinsa, was actually the one who created Majin Buu, not Bibidi. While this information came out of nowhere, it doesn’t necessarily make me sick because of how little we know about Majin Buu’s origins. In a way, the anime uses this gap to fill in its own version, which is just as acceptable.

What I don’t like and won’t like until this is resolved is the way Vegeta, Piccolo and Bulma are treated. They only appear in episodes after the main episode has ended, acting more like a post-credits scene than anything else. At the same time, it was funny to watch Haibis swallow his pride by forcing him to speak politely in order to get information. If the anime can maintain this pace, it will undoubtedly gain much more popularity.
