The Carolina Panthers have been running the Bryce Young experiment for two years now, and so far it has produced mixed results. After a 2-14 rookie season, some might suggest the Panthers start over.

Although the Panthers were starting over with a new general manager and head coach, they decided not to press the panic button located in the quarterback room. Young got a second chance, and this time things are going much better for him.

However, things are still not going well for Young and the Panthers won’t have to worry about their QB blossoming into a superstar. However, does this mean the Panthers should still consider an upgrade?

Bryce Young has had another rollercoaster season. One in which he was benched but has since bounced back, even leading the Panthers to back-to-back wins.

While Young has shown growth as of late, that doesn’t necessarily mean the Panthers have solved their QB conundrum. In fact, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler still thinks Carolina wouldn’t hesitate to move on from Young if it can find a better option.

“A month ago, I would have said Young’s chances of staying with the Panthers were slim. And while it’s hardly a stroke of luck that Young became their starter in 2025—the Panthers have a lot to figure out—he’s certainly given Carolina something to think about. He had a good month, starting games out of merit rather than necessity.

The Panthers have made Young earn the job week after week, but he insists he will remain the starter for the rest of the season. He has his best game with 263 yards and one touchdown against a strong Chiefs defense. But if Carolina believes it can replace Young with more talented players in 2025, so be it. There is no need to make that decision yet, and Young could serve as a good link or compete with another quarterback.”

Young is still under contract for two more seasons, or three if Carolina picks up his team’s former No. 1 overall pick. There’s no reason to move on from him in any sense, but if the Panthers can identify a clear upgrade, perhaps they will consider him, especially if they receive a strong enough trade offer for the 23-year-old.
