Ant apologizes after December’s unfortunate I’m A Celeb comment caused chaos

I’m a Celebrity master Declan Donnelly left his teammates in tears and Ant McPartlin forced to apologize after a very funny but unfortunate innuendo during Friday’s aftershow.

Journalist and Loose women star, Jane Moore became the first celebrity to be eliminated from the show this year, leaving many viewers are unhappy with the result of the public vote.

After each episode, Ant and Dec are joined by Joel Dommett, Sam Thompson and Kemi Rogers. I’m a Celebrity… unpackaged aftershow, where they reflect on the events of the previous day.

On Friday’s episode of the show, TV veterans were asked to reflect on their two decades on the show, which they began hosting in 2002.

In response, Dec said the show is now “unrecognizable” compared to its original incarnation, which was filmed in Queensland, Australia rather than its current location in New South Wales.

Ant McPartlin explained: “It wasn’t here. It was in Northern Australia, near Cairns, so it was a lot hotter.”

Intervening, Donnelly said, “And it was a really thick… thick bush. Fat under…”

Unable to contain himself, Dommett burst out laughing, causing the rest of the cast and crew to burst into laughter and Thompson to double over in hysterics.

“And what happened in the series!?” joked McPartlin, who was also struggling to contain himself.

“Yes, yes, yes, he was fat. Thick bush,” McPartlin said, patting his colleague on the shoulder, who began making a weird claw shape with his hand. Dommett then warned Donnelly about this, adding that the hand was “not helping”.

Struggling to contain himself, Donnelly managed to say the words “dense jungle.”

McPartlin, who wrote the essay himself, then said, “I’m so sorry,” to Kemi Rogers, who received the only cheerful response, adding, “It’s okay. It reminds me to go get a wax when I go home.”

Viewers at home couldn’t help but find the moment hilarious, too.

One person said: “I honestly don’t think there’s anything funnier than watching Dec fall apart.”

A second joked: “Maybe you should do a show next year in Cairns? Just make sure Dec keeps his hands in his pockets!”

A third viewer enthused the event: “Probably the greatest moment on television.”

Meanwhile, one fan praised Rogers for how she handled the awkward moment: “It was fun to watch it live. Kemi is great, I hope she gets more representation after this.”
