Kate’s Christmas message highlights love and kindness in her annual carol letter | UK News

The Princess of Wales delivered her first Christmas message in the form of a letter ahead of the annual carol.

In a note that will be sent to everyone present event at Westminster Abbey on Friday night, she seemed to subtly acknowledge her difficult year while clearly wanting to highlight those who help others in their time of need.

Princess42 years old, writes: “I wanted to write and share my heartfelt gratitude for all you have done to bring comfort and hope to those who need it most.

“Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. This is a time of celebration and joy, but it also gives us the opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that unite us all.

“It is when we stop and take a break from the pressures of everyday life that we find space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness – that is the spirit of Christmas.”

Regarding how “A Christmas Carol encourages us to consider the experiences and feelings of others,” the tone and sentiment of the message is reminiscent of the annual Christmas broadcast we see every year from the monarch.

This is the fourth year the Princess has hosted the Together at Christmas Carols service.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the theme of this year’s event will be “how much we need each other, especially during the most difficult times of our lives.”

This happened after the princess announced that she had finished chemotherapy treatment and Prince William described how The past year has been “cruel”both with his wife and with battle for father’s health.

In her letter, the theme of love couldn’t be clearer, as she seems to echo a sentiment she shared earlier this year when addressing her own diagnosis: “Love is a light that can shine brightly even in our darkest times.” she writes.

Kensington Palace has released more details about who will be attending the service.

Other members of the royal family will also attend the event, and Prince William will be among those giving readings.

The candles will be lit by Lindsay Burrow, wife of rugby league player Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND and died this year, and Sir Chris Hoy MBE, who recently announced his cancer diagnosis.

They also revealed that the abbey will be decorated with eco-friendly holiday decorations and foliage, a nod to the importance of nature as a source of healing and comfort, something the princess spoke about earlier this year.

The service will be recorded on Friday and broadcast on Christmas Eve.
