Results of the Kansas – Baylor match: the Jayhawks were defeated in the regular season finale

Kansas football tried for a fourth straight win Saturday as Big 12 Conference play continued on the road against Baylor, but instead fell 45-17.

Jayhawks were a win away from cup eligibility. The Bears were there, but they wanted more. It was a disappointing end to the regular season for KU.

UPDATE: 2:00 pm (CT): FINAL: Baylor 45, Kansas 17

UPDATE: 1:37 p.m. (CT): Baylor scores again

This time it’s a field goal, but despite this, Baylor’s lead grows in the fourth quarter. The attempt went from 40 yards out and the Bears lead 45-17 with 9:31 left in the fourth quarter. The drive ran 4:42 short and went 57 yards in 11 plays.

UPDATE: 1:25 p.m. (CT): END 3rd Quarter: Baylor 42, Kansas 17.

UPDATE: 1:23 p.m. (CT): Baylor extends lead

Baylor running back Bryson Washington just scored on a one-yard touchdown run. The touchdown and subsequent extra point put the Bears up 42-17 with less than a minute left in the third quarter. The drive ran 4:56 short and went 74 yards in nine plays.

UPDATE: 1:14 p.m. (CT): Kansas finally scores again.

A 14-yard rushing touchdown from wide receiver Lawrence Arnold put Kansas back on the scoreboard. After the extra point, with 5:03 left in the third quarter, Jayhawks route 35-17. The drive cut 1:22 off the clock and went 75 yards in three plays.

UPDATE: 1:06 p.m. (CT): Baylor isn’t giving up.

Baylor now led 35-10 with 6:25 left in the third quarter after another touchdown and extra point. The Bears scored on a 20-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sawyer Robertson to running back Dawson Pendergrass. The drive went 3:17 short and went 62 yards in seven plays.

UPDATE: 12:54 p.m. (CT): Baylor reaches the end zone again.

After another touchdown and extra point, Baylor led 28-10 with 10:58 left in the third quarter. Running back Bryson Washington just scored on a 10-yard touchdown run. The drive went 74 yards and nine plays and shaved 4:02 off the clock.

UPDATE: 12:28 p.m. (CT): END 2nd Quarter: Baylor 21, Kansas 10.

UPDATE: 12:00 p.m. (CT): Baylor extends lead

Baylor now leads 21-10 with 6:00 left in the second quarter after the touchdown and extra point. The Bears scored on a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sawyer Robertson to wide receiver Josh Cameron. The drive cut 3:10 off the clock and went 82 yards in eight plays.

UPDATE: 11:53 a.m. (CT): Kansas adds a field goal.

The Jayhawks had to settle for a field goal in the second quarter. With 9:16 left in the second quarter, Kansas trailed 14-10 on a 26-yard field goal by kicker Tabor Allen. The drive ran 4:37 short and went 67 yards in 15 plays.

END 1st Quarter: Baylor 14, Kansas 7

UPDATE: 11:36 a.m. (CT): Baylor takes the lead.

Quarterback Sawyer Robertson found receiver Monarey Baldwin for another touchdown and with 0:59 left in the first quarter, Baylor led 14-7, including the extra point. The score came on a 39-yard throw. The drive lasted just 28 seconds and covered 65 yards over two plays.

UPDATE: 11:26 a.m. (CT): Baylor tied the game.

Baylor and Kansas are now tied at 7-7 after the Bears’ touchdown and extra point with 2:51 left in the first quarter. Quarterback Sawyer Robertson found receiver Monarey Baldwin for a 36-yard touchdown pass. The drive went 75 yards in six plays and cut 2:27 off the clock.

UPDATE: 11:20 a.m. (CT): Kansas takes lead

With 5:18 left in the first quarter, Kansas leads 7-0 after the touchdown and extra point. The Jayhawks scored on a 19-yard run from running back Devin Neal. The drive went 83 yards in seven plays and cut 3:40 off the clock.
